Flip-type smoke barrier purchasing inspection key points

01.Rotating shaft

Hot-dip galvanized round steel or stainless steel shaft is preferred. Ordinary black round steel is prohibited, as short-term rust will jam the panel. Shaft diameter: For single panel width ≤1200mm, shaft diameter ≥10mm; width 1200–2000mm, shaft ≥12mm. Increase shaft diameter for large spans. Straightness: Shaft must not bend. Bending causes uneven panel height and incomplete dropping.

02.Support bearing / shaft sleeve

Self-lubricating sleeve or rolling bearing shall be adopted. Simple plastic bushings are forbidden, which will age and crack under high temperature and jam the panel. Support base plate thickness ≥2.0mm, firmly fixed by welding or bolts. Support spacing shall not be excessive; intermediate supports must be added for large panels.

03.Reset mechanism (two types, either one)

Torsion spring type (commonly for small panels): Made of stainless spring steel with fatigue test data. Torsion torque shall match panel weight; insufficient torque fails dropping while excessive torque locks the panel. Springs shall be corrosion-resistant. Ordinary carbon steel springs are prohibited.

Counterweight type (for large-span heavy panels): Counterweight blocks with anti-corrosion treatment, non-deformable guide rails. Travel limit is required to prevent impact damage to panels.

04.Temperature release & fire linkage

Equipped with standard 70℃ thermal release device. It fuses at threshold temperature and the panel drops by self-weight / torsion spring. Key requirement: Thermal release parts shall have separate test reports with batch certification. Non-standard cheap fuse wires are forbidden, which may trigger false fusing at low temperature or fail to operate at high temperature. Besides independent thermal action, it supports linkage control by fire alarm panel with electric signal release.

Sealing, Frame and Auxiliary Components Verification

Closing lap edge of flip panel: After the flip panel fully drops, the lap overlap of panels shall be ≥20 mm to prevent smoke leakage through gaps on the upper side of panels.

Fire sealing strip: Fire intumescent sealing strip, continuously embedded at the lap position of flip panels. Intermittent sticking is not permitted.

Limit assembly: Position limit buffer parts to avoid panel damage and rebound caused by impact during dropping.

Hanging fasteners: Hanging brackets matched with expansion bolts; hangers shall be corrosion-resistant. The load capacity of suspension rods shall meet the panel dead weight with safety factor.

Electrical and Linkage System Verification

Release device: Electromagnetic release, DC24V, complying with standard fire power supply. Signal feedback shall be available after release to transmit the fully-operated signal of flip panel to fire alarm controller.

Control logic: Dual modes shall work in parallel - independent release by 70℃ thermal actuation + linkage release via fire alarm system, both functions are mandatory.

Reset function: After fire reset, the flip panel can be manually lifted and locked. It remains concealed against ceiling under normal conditions without affecting indoor clear height and appearance.
