How to ensure normally closed fire doors can close properly in case of fire?

Ⅰ.Do not prop doors open manually It is forbidden to hold doors open with door holders, wooden sticks, stones or ropes. Close the door immediately after passage, and keep it closed normally to prevent the door closer from damage caused by long-time stretching.

Ⅱ.Keep hardware accessories intact

Door closer: No oil leakage, firmly mounted. It shall automatically and gently fully close the door after release with proper closing speed.

For double-leaf doors: The coordinator ensures the two leaves close in sequence without gaps. Replace it once damaged.

Hinges and fire locks shall be firmly fixed. Door leaf opening and closing shall be free of jamming. Door closers and coordinators shall meet fire code requirements.

Ⅲ.Carry out regular inspection and test Perform monthly inspection. Manually open and test automatic closing function. Check door leaves and frames for deformation or warpage. Ensure fire intumescent seals are intact without falling off. Clear debris causing jamming if door gaps are out of specification.

Ⅳ.Repair or replace promptly Repair or replace immediately if oil leakage/failure of door closer, damaged coordinator, deformed door leaf or broken sealing strip is found. Do not operate with defects.

Ⅴ.Optional: install monitoring and alarm devices Add magnetic door contact monitoring to trigger alarm when doors stay open for a long time, helping property management take timely action.

Core principle: Normally closed fire doors rely on door closers for automatic closing, and no fire linkage signal is required. Only intact hardware and no manual propping can guarantee automatic closure during fire, forming fire and smoke barrier.
