Products Description

Smoke barriers are a vital component of a building's smoke control and exhaust system. Their primary function is to divide smoke compartments, hinder the lateral spread of smoke, form effective smoke reservoirs during fires, and ensure safe evacuation of occupants and efficient smoke exhaust.
In accordance with national standards GB51251 and GB14102, all smoke barriers shall have a fire integrity rating of no less than 30 minutes. The materials shall be Class A non-combustible, and products must hold 3C certification.
Three main types are available on the market: fire-resistant glass, inorganic fabric, and metal sheet. They differ in structural features, fire performance and applicable scenarios.
Products Description
01
Fire-resistant Glass Smoke Barrier
A fixed rigid smoke barrier made of single-piece cesium-potassium fire-resistant glass with metal fire frames. It is transparent and aesthetically pleasing, ideal for office buildings, malls and exhibition halls with high decoration requirements. It is easy to clean, well-sealed with low smoke leakage and stable fire resistance. Drawbacks: heavy weight requiring sufficient ceiling load capacity; brittle material with poor impact resistance, prone to breakage during transport and installation. It is fixed and cannot be concealed, occupying interior clear height, so unsuitable for large spans or high-impact areas.
02
Inorganic Fabric Smoke Barrier
The most widely used retractable smoke barrier. Its curtain is silicone rubber coated glass fiber flame-retardant fabric: lightweight, flexible, non-combustible, smokeless and no molten dripping. Normally rolled up inside the ceiling. It deploys automatically within 60 seconds upon fire signal and drops by gravity in power failure, complying with fire linkage codes. Benefits: light weight, low ceiling load, large span and cost-effective. Widely used in underground garages, malls and factories. Weaknesses: fabric vulnerable to sharp cuts; coating aging and chalking in dusty, humid environments. Acceptance checks: flat curtain, tight seams and proper counterweight to prevent fluttering and smoke leakage.
03
Metal Sheet Smoke Barrier
Made of hot-dip galvanized or stainless steel, available in fixed and electric flip types, a high-strength rigid smoke barrier. Stable structure, impact-resistant, wear-resistant, high-temperature resistant and long service life. Excellent sealing and anti-airflow disturbance performance with superior mechanical safety. Suitable for factories, equipment rooms, tunnels and warehouses prone to collision. Limitations: heavy weight demanding strong ceiling bearing capacity; high thermal conductivity, only for smoke retention without fire insulation. Flip type is for sites with limited ceiling space where roller units cannot be installed. Commissioning shall ensure smooth flipping, tight sealing and no jamming.

The selection logic for the three materials is clear: fire-resistant glass is preferred for aesthetically refined spaces; retractable inorganic fabric smoke barriers are the first choice for large-scale and general commercial areas; metal sheet smoke barriers are selected for industrial, high-impact and high-durability applications.
All materials shall meet national fire resistance requirements and hold valid 3C certification. Linkage commissioning shall be completed after installation to guarantee reliable smoke containment in fire conditions and satisfy fire acceptance criteria.
