Explosion Vent Window Manufacturing Requirements
For normal working conditions, Q235 galvanized steel frames shall be adopted; for chemical areas with strong corrosion, 304 stainless steel frames shall be used. The section wall thickness shall be no less than 2.0 mm. The frame shall be integrally formed by full welding. Welds shall be ground, derusted and anti-corrosion treated with an anti-corrosion system of epoxy zinc-rich primer plus topcoat. Reinforcing ribs shall be added to the frame, and embedded steel plates shall be equipped to ensure reliable connection with the structure. EPDM corrosion-resistant and aging-resistant sealing strips shall be adopted for continuous sealing to meet the requirements of rainproof, dustproof and prevention of combustible gas leakage.
(2) Explosion Vent Panel (Core Component)
Single-piece tempered glass and ordinary float glass are prohibited. Two types of compliant panels are available:
PVB/SGP laminated safety explosion vent glass: The adhesive film keeps fragments bonded under explosion impact without splashing of sharp fragments;
Lightweight explosion vent panels: Aluminum explosion vent panels and fiber-reinforced cement explosion vent panels, with a self-weight not exceeding 60 kg/㎡.
Special pressure-set shear explosion vent bolts and brittle explosion vent hinges shall be used. Ordinary bolts and ordinary hinges are not allowed as substitutes. Calibrated opening pressure: 3kPa～10kPa for high-risk Class A workshops; 10kPa～20kPa for Class B dust workshops, with a pressure tolerance of ±1.5kPa. Functional requirements: No accidental opening under normal wind pressure, snow and rain loads; shear failure occurs instantly once the calibrated overpressure is reached, and the sash flips outward smoothly. They are divided into one-time explosion vent type and resettable explosion vent type (reusable only by replacing the explosion vent bolts).
Pre-design Prerequisites
Opening direction for explosion venting: The window shall open outward and flip for pressure relief. The explosion vent opening must not face the workshop interior, personnel passages, offices, main roads, tank areas or other workshops. Burglar nets, limit stops and external guardrails that block the opening path shall not be installed.
Layout principles: Install close to explosion hazards (reactors, feeding ports, tank areas), preferably on the upper part. For flammable gases lighter than air, explosion vent windows shall be arranged as high as possible on the wall and away from personnel staying areas.
Medium matching: The pressure relief ratio C shall be selected separately for flammable gas/vapor and chemical dust. For workshops with toxic media, the explosion vent design shall be equipped with explosion-proof exhaust and isolation measures. Pressure relief shall not rely solely on explosion vent windows.
